What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is a common occurrence that affects almost 90% of women and 10% of men. It is important to understand how Cellulite occurs. It is a result of changes in the skins texture. We have connective bands of tissue throughout the fat cells under our skin. When the fat cells get bigger, it gets pushed up against the skin where the bands of tissues are. This is how cellulite appears beneath the skins surface as lumpy or dimpled. The term, "cottage cheese" or "orange peel" is used when the layer of fat pushes against the tissue excessively.
The risk of developing cellulite occurs more than one way. There are lifestyle and health factors that contribute to how much cellulite you have and how visible it is. Cellulite can increase with age and the peak of menopause. Hormonal changes, where the estrogen levels lower can contribute to the reduction of collagen. By reducing the collagen level, a combination of fat cells become larger and/or increase. The change in the bodies blood supply and thin layer of collagen may lead to cellulite.
